Keegan's Minimed

Hi this is Keegan, so we went to the doctor today and met with the Medtronic guys to get my diabetes insulin pump.  I have had to take over 2,000 shots a year for the last four years plus almost 3,000 finger pokes.  With the pump I only have to have about 125 shots a year but still have 3,000 finger pokes.

Singaporean health care is great I really like Dr. Lee my diabetes doctor.  The pump is a high precision instrument you set in all your numbers and it gives you the insulin.

When I go swimming or am at Aikido I can just detach the tubing and then hook myself back up afterwards.  This Saturday we are playing ball with a friend so I will be able to play and not hurt my pump.

Oh and we can just walk into any pharmacy over here and buy our test meter strips, we do not need anything from the doctor to get them.

This was a good day in Singapore.

  2. I know I spelled "thrilled" wrong, but couldn't "capture" it. Ha!
