What a cool promise we have, the two verses before this one tell us that the man who delights in the law of the Lord and stays away from wickedness will be like this tree.
I thought of this passage as we planted two trees this past weekend. We have exactly one week left in the U.S.A. so why are we planting trees? Well a wind storm took out a nice tree out my kitchen window and about two years ago or so we lost another tree so we thought why not plant a tree in its place so we did.
A flowering crab that will bring some joy to whoever is doing the dishes and looking out the window.
I could not help but think about how when a tree is transplanted it is a life changing event for that tree. The tree needs extra attention and care at first so it can be well established and strong, firmly planted and bearing fruit in its season.
In a way we are a bit like trees being transplanted into Singapore. In our family we believe that God has a purpose for this move and we are waiting to see the path that He will have us take once we get to Singapore. We pray that we will bear good fruit and that we will be firmly planted at a church soon after we arrive in Singapore. We are standing on God's promises to us and are ever so grateful that it is not us who is in control of the circumstances that we may find ourselves in.
Thank you to all of you who are praying for our family as we get set to embark upon this journey. Maybe when you see a young tree you will think of us and lift us up in prayer as we seek to serve God in all we do, as we strive to stay close as a family and not let the business of life rule our time.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."
